Chester has just welcomed an exciting new addition to its sporting and social scene — Padel Sheds, the city’s first-ever indoor padel club, located just a few minutes from the city centre.

The brand-new 12,000 sq ft facility opened in early September and has already become a hit with local residents. With four top-quality indoor padel courts, a stylish bistro café and sports bar, and a welcoming atmosphere, Padel Sheds is quickly establishing itself as a new community hub for sport, fitness, and fun.

Padel — a fast-growing sport often described as a mix between tennis and squash — has been taking Europe by storm, and now Chester locals can enjoy it year-round, whatever the weather. The indoor design means players can book a court at any time without worrying about rain, wind, or dark evenings.

“We wanted to create something special for Chester — a place where people can play, relax, and socialise,” said James Doak, Founder and CEO of Padel Sheds. “The response so far has been incredible. We’ve had over 4,000 visitors in our first month, from complete beginners to experienced players. It’s amazing to see how quickly people are falling in love with the game.”

The venue combines sport and leisure in a modern, welcoming environment. The bistro café-bar serves speciality coffee, cakes, and snacks during the day, as well as Estrella Galicia and Guinness for those wanting to unwind after a game. With live sport on TV, comfortable seating, and great food and drink, it’s also become a favourite spot for locals to meet up and enjoy the atmosphere — even if they’re not playing padel.

Padel Sheds operates on a simple pay-and-play basis, so anyone can book a court online — no membership required. The club also runs intro sessions for beginnerscoaching programmes, and social nights, helping newcomers get into the game and meet other players.

“Padel is incredibly easy to pick up and so much fun to play,” added Doak. “It’s fast-paced, social, and great for fitness. You don’t need to be an athlete to enjoy it — it’s a game that really brings people together.”

The Chester venue marks the start of a wider plan to bring more indoor padel facilities to towns and cities across the UK. But for now, the focus is firmly on building a strong local community around the new club.

Padel Sheds invites everyone — from students and families to retirees and fitness enthusiasts — to come along, try a game, grab a coffee, or simply enjoy the buzz of a space that’s fast becoming one of Chester’s most talked-about new destinations.
